The Padrón is a list of persons registered on the population census which requires updating on a regular basis to reflect the true number of residents in the village. The Padrón is very important as according to the number of people registered, the central government give funding to the village for many different services such as, policing, health care, social services, infrastructure and education. There are also advantages of being on the census, you will receive reductions on water bills and even have the right to vote in the municipal elections.

For this reason, we ask that any foreign resident who registered more than 5 years ago (2 years for none European member state countries) or you have changed address since your initial registration and failed to communicate the change to us here at the town hall, to come and re-register your intention to remain on the census. Likewise, if you have never registered, we ask that you do so.

Failure to register your intention to remain on the census will result in the automatic cancellation of your registration. Please come and check that you are still on the Padrón. Come in to either the foreigners department on the 1st floor or the Padrón office on the ground floor of the town hall with copies of your passport and NIE certificate and re register.

Bar el Acebuchal is organising a course introducing you to the art of weaving esparto grass.
Esparto grass is a long and pointed grass that grows extensively in this area of Spain. It was used by our ancestors for the production of many products which were of vital importance to the daily life people, among them were baskets, carpets, saddles, strings, wine bags to name but a few.
