Day of the Cross - 3 May 2017
Every year, on May 3, the people of the town celebrate the Day of the Cross. Houses, streets and plazas are adorned with fresh flowers and plants. A trail begins from cross to cross and is accompanied by the local band and dancers. Many villagers serve free tapas and the local sweet wine from their doorways.
The Feria of San Antonio - 13 June 2017
The Feria begins with the election of the village queen and king, a gala to celebrate the new prize winners and at midnight a firework display to officially start the festivities.
Thursday afternoon is the traditional romería through the village and later to the river bed - to eat, drink and make merry. A music concert with “Nueva Imagen” is held at 10pm in the village.
Saturday, from 1pm, is an afternoon and evening of traditional music and dance.

Feria de San Juan - 23 June 2017 (Nerja)
The night of San Juan in Nerja takes place on the night of the 23 June and continues throughout the night. In Nerja it is a tradition to camp overnight on the beaches with friends and family - fires are leapt over and dips in the sea are all part of the celebratons.

Dia de las Candelarias - September 2017
El dia de las Candelaria is a tradition from the past when bonfires were burnt throughout Andalucia to celerate the Virgin of Candelaria (the purification of the virgin). Due to restrictions on open bonfires - the only fires you will see are those lit in private courtyards around dusk. However, there are displays of the nineteenth-century tradition of music and songs, to the beat of the zambombas and the almireces (traditional percussion instruments).
